Join The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble for the return of our Summer Tap Intensive on August 15 & 16, 2026! Classes available for three levels (Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, and Advanced) plus a special Tap Teacher Track led by Corinne Karon. Throughout the weekend, dancers will study Tap Technique, Improvisation, and Tap History. Instructors and detailed schedule to be announced soon!

Intermediate Tap
For dancers with a minimum of two years of experience in tap. Classes will work on intermediate steps such as cramp rolls, paddle rolls, time steps, and pullbacks with a focus on musicality and learning choreography.
• Ages 9-12
• Full Weekend: Early Bird Rate $275 | Tuition (after June 1) $290

Intermediate/Advanced Tap
For dancers with a minimum of two years of experience in tap. Classes will emphasize musicality with a focus on clarity and speed. Students will also work on advanced steps such as pullbacks and wings, and will practice improvisation and learning choreography.
• Teens/Adults (ages 13+)
• Full Weekend: Early Bird Rate $275 | Tuition (after June 1) $290
• One Day Pass (if space allows): Early Bird Pricing $150 | Tuition (after June 1) $175
Advanced Tap
For dancers with a minimum of five years of experience in tap. Classes will emphasize musicality and rhythm, working through advanced variations of a variety of tap steps. Students will also practice improvisation and learning choreography.
• Teens/Adults (ages 16+)

Tap Teacher Track (Saturday only)
For dancers who are currently or aspiring to teach tap classes. Students will engage in discussion of pedagogical approaches and will learn warm up and rudiment exercises that can be used in teaching a variety of tap levels. After lunch, students in this track will self-select a level for technique class, and are invited to join us from 3:30-5:00pm for a Tap Jam with live music by the Dan McCain Quartet.
• Adults (Ages 18+)
• Full Weekend (may choose Int/Adv or Adv for Sunday): Early Bird Rate $275 | Tuition (after June 1) $290

We are excited to once again work with the Dan McCain Quartet, providing students with the opportunity to improv with live jazz music during our Tap Jam on Saturday, August 15! All dancers, particularly teens and adults, are invited to stick around after Saturday's classes for an open jam from 3:30 - 5:00pm. Whether you choose to sit and observe or participate on the floor, you won't want to miss this event!
Barbara Swanson Summer Tap Intensive Scholarship

This full-tuition scholarship is awarded to a young tap student with exceptional talent who demonstrates financial need. Barbara Swanson was a student of dance beginning at the age of 8. In 1973, she opened her own dance studio in Northbrook, IL, and later developed and became director of the dance program at the Northbrook YMCA. She was a lifetime member and board member of the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters and supported its mission to provide quality continuing dance education as a teacher who empowered her students to explore the world of tap outside the studio walls. This scholarship is supported by Sarah Cook Flynn.
