The Philly Celebrates Jazz Neighborhood Series, sponsored by the Office of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, presents its fourth Neighborhood Jazz Series of free jazz concerts, dance lessons, and film screenings, and more throughout Philadelphia neighborhoods. Join The Lady Hoofers to learn about the history of tap dance and jazz music, play rhythm games, learn tap's national anthem the "Shim Sham Shimmy," and enjoy a performance by ensemble dancers! This evening will also feature Children of Adam, a world music band.

These family programs celebrate diversity through music, dance, storytelling, and more. Dancers with The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble will perform company repertoire and improvised works, and audience members will be invited to join in call and response games, listen to stories about historic tap dancers, and learn the "Shim Sham Shimmy," tap dance’s National Anthem.

The Porch, located on the south side of 30th Street Station, is one of Philadelphia's premier public spaces featuring lunch from rotating food trucks, pop-up performances, lush landscaping, outdoor drinks in warmer weather, and plenty of places to relax. Drop by for an hour long set featuring new repertoire, improvisation, and interactive rhythm games for kids of all ages. Join the Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble, Philadelphia's premier all-female tap company, for a FREE performance at the FDR Park Boathouse in honor of National Tap Dance Day! Dancers will perform original choreography and improvised works. Audience members will be invited to celebrate Bill "Bojangles" Robinson with games, stories and a chance to learn a historic tap routine, the Shim Sham Shimmy.
This event is presented in partnership by the City’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy as part of Performances in Public Spaces, a summer series of FREE cultural performances in parks and plazas across Philadelphia neighborhoods.
