Join The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble for a free performance at McMichael Park in East Falls. Dancers will perform company repertoire and improvised works, and audience members will be invited to join in call and response games and to learn the Shim Sham Shimmy, tap dance's International Anthem. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on, to practice social distancing, and to wear a mask when unable to keep distance from others.

The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble presents a public performance in Dilworth Park outside Philadelphia's City Hall as part of The Arts on Center Stage series. The free, 60-minute concert will include company favorites and new repertory performed by the ensemble’s First Company and Apprentice dancers PLUS a work-in-progress preview of "Honeysomethin' Blues," a new work choreographed by Guest Artist Lisa La Touche. This outdoor, socially distanced performance is free to the public thanks to support by Center City District and Philadelphia Cultural Fund.
About The Arts on Center Stage series: Philadelphia’s robust network of arts & culture organizations, large and small, will be celebrated every week as they perform in the center of the city. Shows will range from orchestral serenades and ballet ensembles to jazz instrumentals and beyond. In support of local restaurants, guests are encouraged to dine al fresco with takeout meals from nearby eateries. Cocktails to-go made with Maker’s Mark Bourbon and Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer will be offered to guests 21 and older, and a special menu will be available at the Air Grille.

Dancers will perform original choreography and improvised works. Audience members will be invited to celebrate Bill "Bojangles" Robinson with games, stories and a chance to learn a historic tap routine, the Shim Sham Shimmy.
This event is presented in partnership by the City’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy as part of Performances in Public Spaces, a summer series of FREE cultural performances in parks and plazas across Philadelphia neighborhoods.
