Summer campers at the School of Dance Arts got to experience tap first hand thanks to Gabrielle Ammirato and Access to the Arts. Gabrielle, a new Youth Company Dancer with The Lady Hoofers, has been collecting used tap shoes for our arts education programs as part of her arts advocacy volunteer work.
Over twenty students from seven studios and three states registered for our inaugural Youth Company Auditions. A dozen were selected to perform with The Lady Hoofers at our holiday show on December 6th and 7th at Christ Church Neighborhood House.
The Lady Hoofers were honored to perform at the annual DanceUSA Conference alongside Philadanco, Kulu Mele African Dance and Drum Ensemble and six other companies at the Mandell Theater. Kat Richter, Michelle West, and Katie Adkins also received scholarships to attend the full conference.
The Lady Hoofers were pleased to sponsor the West Park Arts Fest by sharing our portable tap floors with several local dancers. Katie Budris, Kelsey Zolochik and Meg Sarachan performed a short selection of works before joining Theresa DiSipio and co-founder Pamela Hetherington at Tap Teaser 9.
